SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- A South Kingstown man faces charges of impaired driving and driving to endanger, death resulting, in connection to acrash last week that killed one of his passengers,the police said.
Dean Philbrick, 46, who remains in serious condition at Rhode Island Hospital, has agreed to turn himself in to the police after he is released, the police said.
The police said Philbrick was driving east on Torrey Road around 12:10 a.m. on Feb. 15 when his car left the road, hitting a telephone pole and several trees.
Erica Knowles, 23, who was riding in the back seat, was killed.
The front seat passenger, 29-year-old Rebecca Scott of Narragansett, was treated at South County Hospital.
They were wearing seat belts.
The police said the three had worked together at Narragansett's Turtle Soup restaurant.
